DISCO DOLLS

I've been drawing faces for as long as I can remember, growing up in the 2000's I collected tabloids and fashion magazines, played dress up in my moms closet, and loved watching fashion shows, and MTV music videos. Drawing inspiration from many sources I was moved by sophisticated fashion icons while my mother blasted her studio 54 and classic rock music in the background. As I got older, the music continued to play and I continued to create up until the pandemic when I ran out of materials. Working on my thesis project for my product development course at FIT (Image on the right), I played on Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop teaching myself new things. Yes I was a 2020 graduate...FUN. I was beyond bored and I desperately missed outside; I missed people watching in the streets of NYC, I missed the dopamine rush of getting ready for a spontaneous night out, and most of all I missed my friends. My eyes were yearning for glamour, I was in what felt like an inspiration draught confined by the four walls of my bedroom. So I began drawing on my ipad... I drew friends, I drew versions of myself with colorful hair, I drew as I dreamed and dazed of the city that raised me as it turned into a ghost town. Contemplating the inspiration sparked from the glamorous people I'd once meet out in the clubs to the fashion shows I worked throughout college. While sounds from Donna Summer and Jim Morrison continued to play, I eventually gave them a name...
